Indications for Aclobet ointment
Clobetasol propionate is employed to treat the following dermatoses in adults, the elderly and youngsters over one year of age.
Refractory dermatoses lichen ruber planus Discoid lupus erythematosus Other skin disorders that do not respond well to less potent steroids Psoriasis (except broad plaque psoriasis) Refractory dermatoses Lichen planus Discoid lupus erythematosus.
Pharmacology of Aclobet ointment
Clobetasol propionate may be a highly potent topical corticosteroid. It acts as an anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive agent.
It inhibits the late phase of allergies by exhibiting anti-inflammatory effects through various pathways. mastocyte density, chemotaxis, and eosinophil activation are all reduced.
It also inhibits the metabolism of arachidonic acid and reduces the assembly of cytokines.
Dosage and administration of Aclobet ointment
Adults, the elderly and youngsters over one year of age should apply a thin layer of Clobetasol Propionate Cream or Ointment to the affected skin area twice a day and rub it in gently.
Exacerbations are often managed with repeated short courses of Clobetasol propionate. If necessary, the effect of Clobetasol are often enhanced by covering the treated area with a polyethylene sheet for more resistant lesions, especially where there’s hyperkeratosis.
